In Anglesboro N.S. we realise that all of our children are different and have many different interests and talents. Throughout the year we provide a wide range of extra curricular activities catering for all of our children's needs.
  • School sports teams participate in Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and soccer competitions.
  • Each year 1st class up attend swimming lessons in Fermoy leisure centre for a 6 week stint.
  • Our annual ‘Sports Evening’ is one of the highlights of the school year and has been running with over 40 years.
  • The school avails of the services of coaches from different sporting areas who visit the school such as: football, hurling, dance, yoga, golf, etc. Last year Limerick hurling captain James Ryan visited us for 6 weeks.
  • We take part in Local nature walks.
  • In our classrooms we are using go noodle brain breaks and movement breaks throughout the day.

While we are already a very active school, we are making a concentrated effort this year to ensure all children achieve 60 minutes of physical activity a day. We have begun working towards achieving an Active Flag.

Throughout this year we will be using this page to document our Active Flag journey. We look forward to working in partnership with you and the local community to achieve the first Active Flag in Anglesboro.

Break and Lunch Times in Anglesboro.
1.11.2017

Break and Lunch Time are always exciting, active times in Anglesboro NS! We had our first Active School Committee meeting last week and we came up with some brilliant ideas. Looks like 2017/2018 will be a busy year!

How?

1. We use lots of equipment on our playground! Hula - hoops, skipping ropes, ladders and footballs.
2. On Funky Fridays where we play music on the yard... Get Dancing everyone!
3. Playground game lotto on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
4. We have playground leaders who keep an eye on everyone making sure they are active and having fun. These leaders are members of our active schools committee. Look out for the high visibility jackets!
5. We encourage everyone to practice the fundamental range of movement skills.
6. We always walk and talk! No standing idle in Anglesboro!
7. Indoor Stations. On rainy days we plan activity stations indoors.
8. If it is raining we take bizzy breaks in our classroom to get our body moving.
9.Active Lines. On lining up we practice short bursts of exercises. We are then ready to head back to work!
