Christmas Olympics

20/12/2017

Today as part of our Active Schools campaign we held our Christmas Olympics. A big thank you to the Active Schools committee and Ms Kelly for organising the event. It was great to see the children so active and happy as well as seeing them working together so well for the various challenges.

On the 20th of December 2017 we held our Christmas  Olympics. The morning was amazing with loads of different fun stations. There was 15 different “Christmassy” stations  such as Build a Snowman, Ho Ho Ho Limbo, Santa’s Workshop, Sleigh Pull, Penguin Waddle, Brussel Sprout Relay, The Christmas Tree Challenge, Christmas Cracker Challenge, Turkey Trot, Jingle Bells, Active Selection Box, North Pole Igloo Challenge, Pin the Nose on Rudolph, The Grinch and Twister. My favourite station was Ho Ho Ho Limbo. It was where you had to do the limbo but you had to put on a Santa coat with a cushion and a belt to make it extra hard. There was about 13 or 14 groups altogether. In my group there was Tomás, Jayden and Kayleigh. The place was really full of Christmas spirit with a speaker playing Christmas songs. We hope to do another Olympics for summer. (By Seán)

On Wednesday morning when I arrived at school the teachers were setting up our Winter Olympics. Ms Kelly called us to come down to the hall so she could tell us our teams and explain the stations. We had 14 teams with a mixture of different classes. My favourite station was the Penguin Waddle. It was great fun because it was hard to run with a balloon in between your legs. Every one enjoyed the day and we also got an extra 5 minutes of break. Thanks to the teachers and the Active school Committee for making this such a great day. (By Paddy)
